Despite the fear of campus-wide apathy earlier in the election cycle, the students, faculty, administration of Lawrence and outside contributors helped immerse our campus in the electoral process. A multitude of student and administrative efforts made it difficult not to be at all involved, or at least aware, of the elections at the local and national level.
For the 85-or-so percent of Lawrentian readers who didn't attend the September convocation, you probably have little clue what Green Roots actually is. Maybe you've seen the new featured link on the Lawrence homepage, or that little green bar with a "g" above it on the double-sided printing signs at the library.
A good friend of mine had commented repeatedly in the weeks leading up to the presidential election that she was voting for John McCain based upon the stylishness of his wife, in comparison to Michelle Obama. Thankfully, for the health of America, my friend did not end up voting.
This week, because I have a column and because I can, I'm going to write a column about something that bothers me. It has to do with love because it is related to the ways in which girls sabotage and ruin other girls relationships, personal lives, and even attempts at friendship, because they believe they are advancing mens' opinions of them.
