Starting today, the Conservatory, in collaboration with Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, will host the 28th annual Lawrence Jazz Celebration Weekend. Opening the weekend with their performance Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel is the Grammy Award-winning vocal group New York Voices.
As a tour guide here at Lawrence, I mention the guitar studio whilst listing off the numerous instrumental studios about which our fine conservatory can boast, and I often get a laugh. Last weekend, Margot and the Nuclear So and So's brought in the month of November with a show at Milwaukee's Turner Hall Ballroom. Their presentation of both folksy rock and the art of drinking a good bottle of wine was the perfect ingredient to a crisp fall weekend.
